NEUROFUNCTIONAL ACUPUNCTURE

Ancient wisdom meets modern health.

What is Neurofunctional Acupuncture?

As an ancient chinese medicinal practice, acupuncture directly targets imbalances in the body’s Qi (or energy flow) by applying pressure to specific points across the body. Using ultra-thin needles, our orthopedic trained acupuncturists insert needles into specific pressure points based on your diagnosis, discomfort and health goals.

Once inserted, these needles interupt the current flow of your Qi and trigger your central nervous system to release endorphins, the chemical in your body that is a natural pain reliever and mood booster to your muscles, brain and spinal cord.  Your body has 2000 acupuncture points that can trigger biochemical changes and tap in to your body’s internal ability to self heal.

Medical Acupuncture

Medical/neurofunctional acupuncture is a precise technique that involves manual or electronic stimulation of the needles administered at specific neuro-reactive sites with the purpose of neuromodulation. Neuromodulation is the influence of the nervous system to regulate itself in response to both internal and external stimuli.

A neurofunctional approach is tailored to the most common dysfunctions and injuries associated with pain: biomechanical, neurological, muscular and psychoemotional. This approach is meant to allow the nervous system to self regulate which then promotes positive change at a neurological, cellular and metabolic level.
